It was a beautiful October evening for best friends, Sally and John to be married. Growing up in St. Louis, they hoped that the wedding would represent their quirky and fun personalities by showcasing St. Louis as THEY know it! The event design was whimsical in nature but so heartfelt and personal that every bit of Sally and John shined with every detail. We had such a fabulous time creating this one of a kind wedding for Sally and John.
This super-cute couple came to us with the idea of a vintage circus wedding. They had already chosen their ceremony and reception venue, the City Museum, a perfect place to turn their dreams in to a reality. There is nothing more fun than starting with a blank slate with personality!
Megan Thiele Studios started off the afternoon taking photos of the wedding party at Tower Grove Park. The men wore their strapping suspenders and candy-striped bow-ties while the women donned their bright red high heels that stunned with their colorful bouquets.
Sally’s mother designed and created the pinwheels that popped up throughout the event and added a personal touch to the design. By mixing the different styles of rental chairs, we were able to add even more interest to the already quirky room. The family affair continued with Sally’s dad who constructed the remarkable backdrop for the wedding.
Popcorn (doubled as Programs) were handed out by Program Attendant Ushers. The antique card box was an old suitcase which added a rustic touch to the event.
The bride and groom shared the ultimate moment with each other before their forever began, while the circus ringmaster, Nichole Torbitzky dressed the part as she guided the couple through their vows. The crowd cheered on as they shared their first kiss as husband and wife.
It was off to the cocktail reception after the “I Do’s”! Antipasto kabobs with fresh basil and Mexican sweet corn were just a few of the hors d’oeuvres provided by Hollyberry Catering . The tables had a variety of beautiful napkins including amber, merlot and federal shantungs atop the natural yuma cloth provided by BBJ Linen.
Sisters Flowers interpreted the bride’s vision with their fun and creative floral arrangements.
After a toast from the maid of honor and best man, it was time for the newlywed couple to share their first dance. Thanks to Miss Jubilee and The Humdingers playing some hot jazz and swing music, they shared a romantic dance of “Dream a Little Dream of Me” .
The guests soon joined and danced the night away. Many lavish desserts filled the tables including decadent sprinkled cake pops and donuts atop little glasses of milk.
There isn’t a better getaway than this one – at the end of the night, Sally and John rode away on a bike-powered rickshaw! How lucky of us to get the chance to design such a unique wedding with Sally and John’s Vintage Circus. We are pleased to share that it won the 2012 Louie Award for Best Wedding budget under $75,000.
